Cisfinitum

2011

Stell grand piano, 200 x 450 x 160cm.

«The word cisfinitum was created by Daniil Harms, a russian writer in the 30’s, and show the logical system he made, system called as well «third logic cisfinie» (or «third logic cisfinie of the unbeing infinit») the first two being those of «finite» and «infinite.» By definition, finitum is limited and inaccessible to the understanding infinitum. Harms proposes a new approach to the «below» (cis), ie the infinite noticeable in the infinity of zero.» Cisfinitum: note 96 established by Jean-Philippe Jaccard in Writings of Daniil Harms, ed. Bourgeois.

Cisfinitum is also the name of a sound project developed by composer and musician Eugene Voronovsky, professional violinist graduated from Moscow State Conservatory in the 1990s in Russia.

«Cisfinitum is the sound of eternity. I’ve always wanted to create the music of Russian cosmos, music capable of expressing information about Russia that is impossible to reveal by means of words. They call this ‘drone’ overseas, but I prefer to define it ‘metaphysical ambient’.», Eugene Voronovsky.
